Coronavirus Update August 11, 2020 - NEW
The School Board has approved a revised 2020-21 school calendar that moves the first day of school for students from August 31 to September 8.

July 22, 2020
School Superintendent David Sovine has distributed a letter to parents that includes information on the school division's reopening plan.

July 21, 2020
The School Board adopted the School Reopening Plan on July 21 and decided to utilize a Hybrid Model when schools open for the 2020-21 school year.

Math and Reading Family Videos

FCPS has created a set of videos to help families assist their elementary children with practicing skills while at home. These short videos focus on math and reading concepts for students at a variety of grade levels. They are not a replacement for the learning provided by classroom teachers, but are meant to enhance or review skills children and families can practice together.

Face Covering Plan Revised
07/28/2020
After soliciting additional information and feedback from a variety of stakeholders, the section of the 2020-21 School Reopening Plan regarding face coverings has been revised to require that students in grades two through 12 wear a cloth face covering. Students in pre-K through first grade are strongly encouraged to wear a cloth face covering. Staff are required to wear face masks/shields except when in a private office, physically distant, and not in common areas.

Rising Millbrook High School sophomore Eshal Aamer has published a book entitled The Mathematical Evolution which details the history and development of mathematics throughout history. Eshal credits some of her teachers for helping her develop a love of math and inspiring her to write the book.

Common Sense District Common Sense Education 2019-2021
FCPS Certified as Common Sense District

Common Sense Education has recognized Frederick County Public Schools as a Common Sense District for its work in teaching students and their families as well as FCPS staff about digital citizenship. Fewer than 150 school districts in the United States have been recognized as a Common Sense District.

2020-21 Kindergarten Registration

Parents with children who will be five years of age on or before September 30 are being asked to contact the registrar at the school their child will attend in order to register their child for kindergarten as soon as possible. Early registation will help FCPS plan for the 2020-21 school year.
